Real Life: Resolutions

Happy 2015!

Every year for as long as I can remember I’ve always taken pen to paper come New Years to make a long list of very aspirational resolutions for the year ahead.  This year? Not so much.

I’ve decided that 2015 is going to be my best year ever and for me that means sticking to the goals I’m already working toward and not setting myself up for any sort of unhappiness.  Jotting down ‘I will lose 50 lbs in a month’ will not lead to happiness.

I have however taken a few steps to help guide myself to a healthier more active existence. I spent some time over the holidays doing some serious research on gym memberships…here is what I have learned.

They are a serious rip off.

I followed my gym research with fitness equipment research and got an unreal deal on a spinning bike from my local The Treadmill Factory.  Couple this with my one set of 15 lb free weights, medicine ball and yoga mat and I’ve got all the gym I need, for less than an annual membership.  I haven’t quite hit my stride yet but I know I’ll get there.

I’ve also downloaded My Fitness Pal (or re-downloaded I should say…I was so good at it once upon a time!). I do this simply because I know if I pay attention to what I’m eating, I’m much more accountable.

I’m not sure how this will all net out, but I am sure that I’m happily looking forward to making 2015 my best year yet, no resolutions necessary.

Did you make resolutions, or just set goals?

R.
